Poor regulation of the elderly and vaccination – Maura Tydenning

Poor regulation of the elderly and vaccination – Maura Tydenning

A few years ago, it was arranged so that we senior citizens over 65-70 years of age with underlying diseases could get vaccinated here in Mora at the Family Centre. We avoided exposing ourselves to significant risks of infection 1. Riding on buses crowded with school children who were snoring, coughing, etc 2. Crowded in the dispensary among a crowd of people who were there and crowded to be at the front in the vaccination queues.

Of course, I, who is easily affected by the flu and suffers from heart failure and diabetes, was in real shock after my horrific experience in the crowds at the infirmary.

Now it's time again. I am 74 years old and therefore have underlying conditions as described above and would prefer to have the vaccination at the family center as they administer the vaccination much better than the hospital.

When I was vaccinated at the Family Center, everything was taken care of according to all the rules. Hand washing, mouth protection and careful distance. It is safe and excellent in every respect and I did not catch a cold or get sick after taking my doses there. But now I have to get to the hospital via buses carrying people who are often snoring and coughing, and then make my way through a queue at the hospital to get to the room where I will receive my dose. After that, no one with the same risk of infection will return home.

I believe that since every person over the age of 80 with an underlying disease can get vaccinated at the Family Center, every person over the age of 70 with an underlying disease should also be allowed to do so.
