Later this year, Qualcomm will launch the first system chips developed for powerful laptops, the Snapdragon X Elite. Qualcomm recently invited journalists to a press event in New York where they could test prototype computers using the new chips, and the company showed off internal testing results that it says show the chips are faster than those of its three main competitors — AMD, Apple and Intel.
Tom's devices He writes that Qualcomm had a large number of laptops on hand, with two variants of the Snapdragon The former is the “regular” circuit, while the latter are select models that can handle a higher clock frequency, company representatives said.
Qualcomm's comparisons with competitors began with Apple, as Qualcomm showed that the new chip achieved higher results in the Geekbench 6 multi-threaded test: about 15,600 points, compared to 12,200 for Apple's M3 chip. The Snapdragon chip's single-threaded Geekbench 6 score is around 2800-2900 points, which isn't quite as high as the M3 with just over 3000 points (something Qualcomm didn't mention in its presentation).
Compared to Intel's Meteor Lake chips, Qualcomm says the Snapdragon It's also 51 percent faster than the single-threaded Core Ultra 9 185H, even with 65 percent less power.
Qualcomm didn't share exact numbers for AMD's Phoenix chipset, but it placed the Ryzen 9 7940HS between the Core Ultra 7 155H and the Snapdragon X Elite (closest to the former). In the chart comparing GPU performance, the company placed the same AMD circuit below its own and Intel's.
