Now: This is the new Swedish security agreement
Sweden and Great Britain signed a new solidarity agreement.
At a press conference with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Prime Minister Magdalena Anderson (S) confirmed that the two parties had signed a “bilateral declaration of political solidarity”.
May contain military resources
– In the event of a crisis or attack on one of our two countries, Great Britain and Sweden will help each other in various ways. Support can include military resources, says Magdalena Andersson, and notes that the agreement serves an important function regardless of whether Sweden joins NATO or not.
The declaration serves an important purpose regardless of what decision Sweden will make about our security policy.
You can get what you ask for
When the British Prime Minister took the floor, he stated that Sweden would receive assistance in the event of a military attack.
– If Sweden asks for help, they will get it. Johnson says it is up to Sweden what they ask for and what help they want.
He explained that the new agreement meant that the cooperation of Sweden and Great Britain had developed further. Countries will support each other in crises. He asserts that it could be related to military attacks, cyber attacks and disasters.
Sweden received security guarantees
Magdalena Andersson confirms that Sweden has received security guarantees from several countries when applying to NATO. It also says that the security situation in Sweden has become more secure with the new agreement with Great Britain.
– I am grateful for your support, – you say in a comment addressed to Great Britain.
