It’s a kind of “chicken race” between the vaccine and the delta virus, says Anders Nestedt, an infection control doctor.
The latest numbers show that the Delta virus is not found in Norrbotten. On the other hand, these numbers apply to week 22 while we are now at the end of week 24. One reason for this is that it takes two to three weeks to get tested for the virus, according to Anders Nestedt.
20 percent should be checked
Previously, they analyzed 10 percent of all the strains that entered the Norrbotten-area laboratory, but now they are switching and will analyze twice that number.
We will manage just over 20 percent of the tribes we receive weekly. There will be at least 50 samples per week. We do this because we want to trace the delta virus, says infection control doctor Anders Nestedt.
We hope for more vaccinations
In October 2021, all Norrbotten residents will be fully vaccinated, in accordance with the goals of the new Norrbotten district.
Delta can make it a little easier. If we catch the virus before we get more vaccinated, it’s going to be a problem. If we can get him away from us, the vaccination will be able to handle it as well.
Is it a reasonable goal to have everyone fully vaccinated in October?
– It’s totally reasonable. So nothing is supposed to happen with vaccine deliveries. It could be faster if we get incremental deliveries based on our expectations.
