– I am so happy and grateful to have such confidence as LabMed President. It will be exciting to work with colleagues to further enhance our localized research environment and create the best possible conditions for our employees to thrive and develop. I also look forward to working on strategic issues with KI management and other institutions, says Jonas Fox.
background
Jonas has his roots in KI (Medical Program) and received his Ph.D. in 2001 with a thesis in molecular biology on how tumor suppressor genes regulate cellular transformation and aging. He and his family then moved to San Francisco where, during a 3-year postdoc at UCSF, he altered pathways and studied vascular changes in chronic airway inflammation. At home, he set up a research group at KI that studies the mechanisms of how inflammation relates to cellular plasticity and cancer metastasis. He also teaches oncology and inflammatory pathology in many different educational programs for KI and is the Labmed Coordinator for the New Medical Program.
In 2020, Jonas moved with his research group from the Department of Microbiology, Oncology, and Cell Biology (MTC) to the Department of Laboratory Medicine. On January 1, 2022, he became the Head of the Department of Pathology and on January 1, 2023, he will assume the position of Head of the Department.
