Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis is one of the country’s richest people. Head to the polls to fight tax crimes and corruption. Documents in the new Pandora leak show how Babis used a series of mailbox companies to secretly purchase several properties, including the castle, near Cannes in France.
The prime minister – in violation of Czech rules for elected politicians – reported businesses or property.
Despite repeated attempts, Andrei Babis chose not to comment on the information.
Several people in power in the infusion
With nearly 12 million classified documents and the largest journalistic collaborative project ever, Pandoraläckan can show how those in power like Babis — who can work to stop secret corporate structures in tax havens — profit themselves from heavily criticized schemes.
These include anonymous companies and organizations that use mailboxes to hide assets.
– The leak shows that there is a shadow world that we don’t know. When nations are drained of their assets, the gaps widen. Tax havens are exacerbating poverty, says Gerard Ryle, president of the network of journalists at the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which received the leak and then shared it with more than 600 journalists in 117 countries, including the SVT review of allocation.
Pandora’s leak includes the presidents of Ukraine, Kenya and Ecuador – and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. A total of 35 active or former heads of state and government have been identified, and more than 330 government employees from 91 countries. The leak also includes more than 130 billionaires from Russia, India and the United States, among other countries. As well as environmental criminals, wanted persons and people belonging to the mafia.
King of Jordan
Jordan is different from its oil-rich neighbors in the Middle East and is dependent on foreign aid. Jordanians protested in the streets against corruption and poverty in the kingdom.
At the same time, Pandora’s leak reveals that King Abdullah has a secret scheme with anonymous mailbox companies that own 14 luxury properties, mainly in the US and UK, with a total value of more than $106 million.
King Abdullah defends himself, through his lawyer, by saying that he committed no crime and that his anonymity was related to his safety.
