Microsoft paused Windows 11 update due to performance issues

With Windows 10, Microsoft launched a strategy of periodically upgrading the operating system through new feature updates, a scheme that continues with the year-old Windows 11 operating system. The latest update for Windows 11 is called 22H2 and has begun rolling out to the masses, following a testing period and early availability through the Windows Insider Program.

Besides placing focus and tabs in the explorer, among other things, it quickly became apparent that the update was also limited by performance loss in games. Nvidia was early on with a new driver to get around the problem. While still working on the core issue, swipe now Microsoft on Handbrake Update 22H2.

Some games and applications may experience lower than expected performance or stutter in Windows 11, version 22H2. Affected games and applications inadvertently enable GPU performance debugging features that are not intended for use by consumers.

The software giant says that the reason why some games and programs perform worse or suffer from what is called stammer, is that graphics performance developer mode has been activated for a reason. Therefore, Microsoft has now temporarily blocked the ability to update the operating system and advises the company not to bypass the ban manually, for example by installing through recovery media.

For those who already have Windows 11 22H2 installed and are experiencing performance issues, these can be resolved by updating related games and software, according to Microsoft. As mentioned, new graphics card drivers can also be a solution. At the time of writing, it is not clear how long Microsoft needs to fix the problem.
