Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake and CLA Coupé facelift official

Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake and CLA Coupé facelift official

Outside, news for Mercedes CLA– Shooting Brake and Coupe models are mostly about the new front design and grill. LED headlights, both front and rear, have also been updated, and headlamps are now standard for the first time. New color and rim options are available as options.

Inside, a self-contained dual screen is standard: a 7-inch and a 10.25-inch screen. If you want more screen, you can choose two 10.25 inch screens instead. The steering wheel of the current generation is wrapped in leather as standard, but the Sport steering wheel is now also available in faux leather. For the AMG line, there is also an optional heated steering wheel for the first time.

The interior received a slightly fresh look, too, with color options similar to dark charcoal and open-pore brown basswood – or brown microfiber (only available for the AMG line). The seats have also been updated with new textures: faux leather and black 3D fabric. Gray or beige canvas is available as an option.

Various packages and an updated infotainment system

In general, the manufacturer has upgraded the overall standard equipment on CLA models and offers more customized solutions. In the basic version, you now get, for example, Highbeam Assist, a reversing camera and a USB package, as well as a leather steering wheel and LED headlights.

Other equipments have been packaged in different levels, which are based on “customer’s real behavior” according to Mercedes. However, different styling options regarding colors, upholstery, trim and wheels allow customers to configure the vehicle individually.

The infotainment system has been updated with a new design and improved performance. In addition, you can connect your phone to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto Wireless. The new USB package includes additional capabilities for connecting smartphones. Voice control has also been updated and should now be more conversational and learnable.

The driver assistance system has also been improved. For example, the lane-keeping assistant should work more smoothly, and the parking package now supports longitudinal parking (jeep parking, editor’s note) and 360-degree visualization of parking in general.

Refined powertrain

All petrol engines are electrified and include a four-cylinder and seven- or eight-speed DCT automatic transmission as standard. Mild hybrid cars are equipped with 48-volt systems that make starting easier. The new starter generator has been improved in terms of comfort and experience with reduced vibration and a lower noise level.

Plug-in hybrid cars are equipped with an improved high-voltage battery that should provide a longer electric range. In addition, the charging capacity has been increased from 7.4 kW to 11 kW. As before, it is also possible to charge the battery with direct current up to 22 kW.
