Massive Russian Bot Attack – Air Alert Across Ukraine

Airplane alerts are going off across Ukraine on Monday, urging residents to seek shelter. The governor of the Mykolaiv region, Vitaly Kim, wrote on Telegram that 14 Russian Tu-95 bombers should be in the air.

– It’s part of Russia’s strategic bombing campaign that they’ve been doing since Surovikin took over, says Joachim Paasikivi.

Electricity and infrastructure goals

Explosions have been reported from several parts of the country. The Kyiv Independent wrote on Twitter that explosions were reported from Donetsk and Poltava regions, among others. The explosions were said to have occurred in Odessa, Cherkasy and Kryvyi Rih as well. In Odessa, power was cut off at the city’s pumping stations, with the result that the entire city was now without running water.

– It seems that they focused on cutting off electricity and infrastructure, says SVT’s foreign correspondent Regina Svedberg Agren.

Two dead in Zaporizhzhya

Former presenter Jürgen Elving agrees with the analysis. According to him, attacks on civilian infrastructure have three purposes:

– Attempting to partly break the Ukrainian will to resist, partly exhausting the air defense and partly to create another stream of refugees and put more pressure on the West.

Reports of injuries and deaths also began to come in. Reuters wrote that two people were killed in the Zaporizhia region and that electricity was cut off in the Sumy region.
