Manchester is likely to be a beneficiary of a huge amount of investment capital from around the world in the coming years – according to Executive Director at CBRE Colin Thomasson.
Speaking to Insider,
Thomasson says that Manchester “sits above every other city”, as
evidenced by the number of companies that are relocating there and the huge
amounts of capital that have been invested in recent years.
Thomasson adds that this
year has been slow for commercial developments in the city centre and over
the coming six months there is not a huge pipeline of activity as investors and
developers take a more conservative view. He also suggests there are some
issues the city must resolve such as with infrastructure.
forecasts that the long term future for the city is very bright as investors
with money to invest have Manchester
in their sights. He told Insider: “There’s a huge amount of capital still
available to invest in the real estate market. Of that, there’s no question. It
could come from the US, Canada, Asia or the UK – all corners.
“As and when investments
pick up, Manchester
would likely be prime location. It’ll certainly be a beneficiary.”
