The justification reads: »In his extensive work as a senior physician and professor of infectious diseases at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Magnus has contributed, among other things, to outstanding research on HIV and the effects of the virus on the central nervous system. He is a highly regarded and committed physician who has worked with HIV-positive patients for over 30 years. Through this experience, he has a unique perspective on what it was like and what it now means to live with an HIV diagnosis. Magnus is a champion of working to provide equal and equitable care for people living with HIV. He had a close and important relationship with Noah's Ark, and has provided significant support to the organization's work in the field of HIV since its inception.

Magnus Gesslin is Professor of Infectious Diseases at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Chief Physician at the Infectious Diseases Clinic at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg and State Epidemiologist at the Public Health Agency.
