On Friday, Prime Minister Magdalena Anderson and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg held a telephone meeting to discuss Russia’s military advances near the Ukrainian border.

“Thank you to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for our conversation on the importance of preserving the European security system and deepening the partnership between Sweden and NATO,” the prime minister wrote. Twitter after the meeting.

The tense situation has arisen since Russia amassed tens of thousands of soldiers on the border with Ukraine in the late fall. Russia also demanded that more countries not join NATO.
Next week, representatives from Russia will meet in three separate meetings with representatives from the United States, NATO and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
