London Resort Theme Park Signs ITV Deal

The developers behind The London Resort, a major new theme park being planned for Swanscombe in Kent, have signed a deal with ITV Studios that will enable ITV programmes, brands and characters to be used in attractions there.

The London Resort already has a similar deal with the BBC. It was originally intended that the new theme park would operate in conjunction with US film studio Paramount Pictures, but they withdrew  from the project in 2017.

Steve Norris, Chairman of The London Resort Company Holdings, comments: “To create a world class destination, you have to work with world class partners and ITV Studios ticks every box.

“Globally recognised for its rich heritage of creating some of the most popular and entertaining content on the small screen, ITV has properties which have never been transformed into truly unique experiences. That’s the vision and I’m delighted to welcome them on board for what promises to be an epic journey.”

Construction of The London Resort, which it is claimed will be a world class theme park, is projected to start in 2021. Once complete it will be the UK’s largest such attraction and will cover 535 acres, provide 3,500 hotel rooms and employ around 9,000 people directly. If all goes to plan, the park could have a substantial impact on the economy and property market in what, despite being close to London, is a relatively less prosperous part of Kent.
