New British Prime Minister Liz Truss loses another minister. Home Secretary Suella Braverman is leaving the British government after just 43 days.
This happened shortly after British Finance Minister Kwasi Quarting was forced to resign last Friday.
According to Sky News, Braverman is resigning due to a “grave mistake”, not a political row. According to the news channel sources, she must have shared confidential information on her own mobile phone. The information must be related to immigration.
In a farewell letter to the Prime Minister who Sky News I knew, Braverman wrote: “I made a mistake and took responsibility and I’m resigning”
She also wrote in her letter to Truss that “resigning is the right thing to do” when you make a “mistake.”
— It’s a little wink at Liz Truss, says SVT foreign correspondent Anna-Maja Persson.
In the letter, she also expressed her “concern about the direction of this government” and did not write anywhere that she continues to support Liz Truss.
The person who will now succeed Suella Braverman will be former Secretary of Transportation Grant Shapps.
