The political turmoil in the world is making corporate citizenship increasingly important. Many experts claim, for example, that companies like Huawei and ZTE are being used by China to spy on the West, and similar warnings apply to Russia’s Kaspersky.
As a consumer, it can be difficult to keep track of the nationality of companies, and the past 20 years have seen many game-changing acquisitions. In 2004, for example, the Chinese company Lenovo bought PC manufacturing from the American IBM – so now classic IBM PCs are Chinese and called Lenovo.
In 2014, Lenovo also bought Motorola’s mobile division, so if we buy a Motorola phone, in other words, it is a Chinese phone.
It can be difficult to know the nationality of a single device that we buy because many companies have manufacturing in different countries. Here, however, we have compiled a list of where the big tech giants are from, that is, the countries where they are based according to the information on Wikipedia.
