The Yard Act is a British success story. The Leeds band appeared out of nowhere in the pandemic spring of 2020 and quickly became one of the UK's most talked-about bands – praised by NME magazine and compared to social satirical musicians such as The Fall, Arctic Monkeys and Pulp. The group's Mercury Prize-nominated debut album “The Overload” lives up to the hype, to say the least, and has been praised by, among others, Pitchfork for its “talkative, acidic interpretation of post-punk in the age of Brexit.”
Today, Yard Act is a full live band. They have toured extensively on both sides of the Atlantic, played on Jimmy Fallon's “Tonight Show” and performed at festivals like Redding and Coachella. Among the fans we find both actor Cillian Murphy and living legend Elton John – the latter of whom hosted the group in a brand new version of the song “100% Endurance”.
In 2023, Yard Act returns with the “Trench Coat Museum” (named after singer James Smith’s favorite piece of clothing). The song contains social criticism, sharp self-awareness and a timbre in the spirit of LCD Soundsystems and Parquet Court, and is being described as a trailer for Yard Act's long-awaited second album. Don't miss Yard Act's first Stockholm concert at Slaktkyrkan on April 20 – tickets will be released on Friday, September 29 at 10am via Luger.se!
