We stand shoulder to shoulder to protect and promote our shared democratic values. This is clearly reflected today when we stand with Ukraine to defend freedom and sovereignty in the face of unprovoked aggression, says the King during a banquet hosted by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The king also promised to do everything possible to strengthen relations between Great Britain and Germany.
The visit is considered important and an “important European gesture” that they care about strong relations with the British post-Brexit.
On Wednesday, the Royal Air Force landed at Brandenburg Airport in Berlin, where it received 21 salutes.
Unter den Linden Street in Berlin was flown in honor of the visit with the British Union Jack along with the flags of Germany and the European Union.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, Elke Boydenbender, greet Charles and Camilla at the emblematic “city gate” of the Brandenburg Tor.
During the visit, Charles will be the first British monarch to address the German parliament, the Bundestag. Among other things, he will also meet Ukrainian refugees and the royal couple will visit Hamburg on Friday.
