Jessica Rosenkrantz attends a Nordic Council session in Iceland

EU Minister responsible for Nordic Affairs Jessica Rosenkrantz will participate in the Nordic Council session in Reykjavik on 28-31 October. During 2024, Sweden will chair the Nordic Council of Ministers, and during the session Jessica Rosenkrantz will provide information on the work of the Council of Ministers during the presidency. The Nordic Council of Ministers will also adopt a new program for freedom of movement in the Nordic countries.

– I am looking forward to meeting my Nordic colleagues in Reykjavik. Now we are at the beginning of the Swedish presidency, and I will highlight, among other things, how Sweden has pushed to tear down border barriers, especially through our adoption of the new Øresund Agreement between Sweden and Denmark. Thanks to the agreement, it will be easier for companies to operate and move between our countries, says EU Minister responsible for Nordic Affairs Jessica Rosenkrantz.

On the sidelines of this session, the cooperation ministers of the Nordic countries will meet. This will be the fifth and final meeting chaired by Sweden, and Jessica Rosenkrantz will represent Sweden at the meeting. The main item on the agenda is the adoption of the freedom of movement program in the northern region. The initiative means a higher level of ambition and clearer priorities in the ongoing work to make it easier for northerners to live and live in the entire region. The Cooperation Ministers will also discuss the vision of the Council of Ministers’ work and take a decision on the 2025 budget.

During the session, Jessica Rosenkrantz also meets her Danish and Finnish counterparts in individual meetings and participates in a joint study visit to Nordens hus in Reykjavik.
