Wednesday, February 22, 2023, Stockholm, SwedenJaguar Land Rover is expanding its global digital capacity by opening three new technology centers in Europe, thereby creating just over 100 new engineering jobs.
The hubs are being established to develop autonomous driving systems for the next generation of exclusive JLR vehicles and join six existing global technology centers in which JLR has invested.
The new hubs are located in Munich in Germany, Bologna in Italy and Madrid in Spain. Sites are carefully selected based on the availability of digital engineering expertise in each area.
Munich is one of the top-rated tech hubs in Europe*, while locations in Spain and Italy have been identified as important and growing tech hubs in Europe**.
The construction of the new hubs comes in addition to JLR’s existing technology centers in Portland in the US, Budapest in Hungary, Shannon in Ireland, Shanghai in China, Bengaluru in India and Manchester in the UK. In all, these hubs employ more than 1,100 engineers, who are part of JLR’s nearly 9,000 strong global engineering force.
Together, Jaguar Land Rover’s nine global engineering centers will provide services and data supply to the advanced product creation center in Gaydon, UK, to create the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles that continue to be the prototype of modern exclusivity and provide customers with a fully connected experience.
Thomas Müller, Director of Product Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover: “We are leveraging the resources of knowledge in autonomous technology around the world to develop new autonomous technologies for our future products, which will provide our customers with a pioneering and exclusive experience.
“Software is essential to delivering a fully connected experience to our customers, and by creating global engineering hubs, we are enabling seamless hybrid work across multiple locations and ensuring that the best talent is leveraged for our business.”
The creation of three new technology hubs illustrates the evolution of Jaguar Land Rover’s multi-year partnership with NVIDIA, a leader in artificial intelligence and accelerated computing. In partnership, JLR engineers develop and deliver the next generation of automated driving systems, digital services and experiences to customers.
The teams running the New Technology Centers have expertise covering different areas of autonomous technology, including systems, functionality, software, verification and validation, and hardware.
