Huge order for Volvo Trucks – 1,000 electric trucks

Volvo Trucks has signed a letter of intent to sell 1,000 electric trucks until 2030 to Holcim, the world’s largest supplier of building materials.

It’s AB Volvo’s largest ever electric truck business.

Long-term collaboration and a strong commitment to a genuine desire to make a difference is critical to achieving significant CO2 reductions. “I am very proud of the collaboration we have with Holcim,” says Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO of AB Volvo.

The first 130 electric heavy trucks of the Volvo FH and Volvo FM models will be delivered to France, Germany, Switzerland and Great Britain, among others, during the fourth quarter of 2023 and throughout the next year.

The agreement is the result of a broader collaboration between Holcim and the Volvo Group.

The new large order will not include new designations for Volvo Trucks in Toffee.

– We’ll have good capacity in Tuff for that demand, which lasts until 2030. If you ignite it in the years 2025 to 2030, that’s 145 trucks a year and we’ll manage that with the existing crew, says Claes Eliasson, communications manager AB Volvo.

Volvo does not disclose the value of the new large order.

– We do not transfer the value of individual orders, he says.

By replacing 1,000 existing Volvo FH diesel trucks with electric Volvo FH trucks that use green electricity on a typical road, up to 50,000 tonnes of CO2 could be saved each year.
