How to replace Siri with the smarter OpenAI. A smarter assistant at your service.

We’ve had smart assistants for a while, but Apple’s “smart” assistant isn’t all that smart. Now it’s relatively easy to get a smarter assistant for asking things with an OpenAI API and a fairly simple shortcut.

Get started by signing up for an API key with OpenAI. the Are you here.
Then you download This shortcut. If you have a Mac, it’s fine to do this on it, and then the shortcut will sync to your iPhone.
Then change the name of the shortcut to something practical, I named my Signe. A smarter, smarter version of Siri.
Then paste the API code in the right place and change the Spanish text to Swedish text, such as “What can I help you with?”.

Then start Siri, say Signe (or whatever you want) and ask your question. The answer comes in a few seconds. This goes against the OpenAI API and isn’t quite as advanced as ChatGPT, but the questions I had were answered very well.

At the bottom of the shortcut is an action called Show Text. If you instead want to read the answer out loud, just replace it with the read-aloud action.
