The current Housing
Minister Kit Malthouse has declared his interest in becoming Prime Minster
following Theresa May’s upcoming departure from the role.
He will join ten other MPs who have declared an interest in the job, with more expected to announce their intention to stand this week.
In revealing his intentions to The Sun Malthouse spoke of his down to earth northern background and put himself forward as a “new face, with fresh new ideas, from a new and talented generation”.
Malthouse has been Housing Minister for less than a year, so has not had much time to make an impact there. However, many will hope that, should he succeed in becoming Prime Minister, Malthouse’s ‘fresh new ideas’ for Brexit are a little more effective than the ideas that the Government has tried in the housing market in recent years.
