Halo is one of the most popular game series in the world. However, the latest installation wasn't perfect at all, which has now prompted Microsoft to move things along. Halo will henceforth no longer be developed using the Slipstream engine and 343 Industries has now changed its name to the fictional Halo Studios.
Developing Halo Infinite must have been a nightmare. This is thanks to certain developers who worked on the project for only short periods as well as the Slipstream game engine. Since its launch in 2021, developer 343 Industries has been hit with layoffs and layoffs as a result of Infinite.
However, Microsoft is not ready to abandon this series. Some restructuring has now taken place at the company, which has now changed its name to Halo Studios. Many new game titles in the series are supposed to be early in the production cycle. Hopefully this will be met with better reviews than Infinite when it comes time to launch.
These new games will also not use the studio's own game engine. The studio has now abandoned the Slipstream engine, which proved challenging to create games, and has now switched to Unreal Engine 5 instead.
It remains to be seen how well the move to Unreal Engine 5 will facilitate the development of future game titles. We hope to see what the developers do in the relatively near future.
