Lose the plastic card that is used as a hotel room key? If you’re staying at the Clarion Hotel Post in the summer, you can put the key in your Apple Wallet and unlock it with your iPhone or Apple Watch.
In collaboration with ASSA ABLOY and Zaplox shows Now Strawberry (formerly Nordic Choice Hotels) customers put their room key in Apple Wallet instead of the guest receiving a plastic card to unlock the hotel room with. So far, the job is only active at the Clarion Hotel Post located at Drottningtorget 10 in Gothenburg. When a guest books their hotel stay, the key can be added to Apple Wallet and when the guest checks in, the key is also activated. If you need to change rooms, extend your stay, or regret it and want to check out later, the hotel can remotely update the key so it continues to work.
We always strive to deliver great experiences and a seamless guest journey, and the release of Room Keys in Apple Wallet is an important milestone in delivering on that promise. Many of our guests have requested this feature, and I think the threshold to get started with the feature is pretty low, thanks to Apple’s user-friendly environment combined with the fact that most guests are already using Apple Pay, says Torgir Silseth, CEO of Strawberry.
The key in Apple Wallet can be used With both the iPhone and the Apple Watch, whether Strawberry will launch the same solution for many of its hotels is still unknown.
