The Sun newspaper has
published what it says are the first pictures of property tycoon Christian
Candy’s mega mansion on Chester Gate, Regent’s Park, London and claims it is
the most expensive house in the UK.
The newspaper says that the mansion comprises 14 bedrooms including a master suite that occupies an entire floor, a pool, wine cellar, gym, billiards room, smoking room, library and both formal and informal reception rooms, together with a panic room. It has been developed by combining seven separate townhouses which Candy bought in 2013.
The Sun estimates: “If he
were to ever sell the lavish home, it could fetch £250m – smashing his and
brother Nick’s £160million record on a two-storey penthouse at One Hyde Park.”
Readers drawn in by The
Sun’s headline and expecting to find pictures that reveal the Candy family’s
taste in wallpaper or scatter cushions will be disappointed, however. The exposé
only includes pictures that can be taken by passers-by in the public street. Nevertheless
they reveal what is most certainly an impressive exterior and the newspaper’s
valuation is probably not that far wide of the mark.
