Fire in an apartment building in Stallarholmen

The rescue service arrived at the address before 9:30 p.m. Friday, according to SOS Alarm.

We suspect the fire started on the balcony, because when the rescue service arrived, the fire spread to the roof, says Stefan Peterson, the duty officer of the Mallardallen Rescue Service.

He adds that the property destroyed by the fire consists of two adjacent buildings, one of which did not burn initially. But during the night, the fire also spread to the other building, despite the rescue service’s restricted work.

Police were at the site during the evening to facilitate the rescue service. It has not yet been possible to investigate whether this was a crime. Everyone on the property was evacuated Friday evening, and taken by bus to Stringnas. According to the rescue service, there are a total of nine people.

The fire-damaged apartment building in Stallarholmen was once a nursing home. Recently, the building was renovated and converted into a residence, says Ecorin.
