Ebbsfleet Central will
deliver a new commercial and residential centre within the Garden City
providing jobs, homes, community and cultural facilities. Ebbsfleet Development
Corporation has had a vision for its new
city centre since 2015 but the development has been
stalled up until now. The corporation’s purchase of the 125 ha site now means
it can take control and unlock the site in order to deliver the development.
Michael Cassidy CBE,
chairman of the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation board said: “This is the most
exciting project to happen in Ebbsfleet Garden City to date and we aim to
create a centre that is vibrant and creates economic opportunities that
will be enjoyed by people for years to come.
“We will now be talking to
developers and investors to maximise the enormous potential Ebbsfleet Central
will bring for all.”
Ebbsfleet Garden City is
an ambitious scheme to create a major new community in north Kent. There are
currently more than 1,700 homes here and eventually up to 15,000 could be
built. The scheme could contribute significantly towards addressing the housing
shortage in south east England
and have a major impact on the property market in Kent.
