A picture is worth a thousand words, but nowadays it is enough to write a few words to create the image you want. For example, do you write Lemurs dancing a waltz in Stockholm or Armchair in the shape of an avocado You can see exactly like this picture. The service that makes this possible is called Dall-E 2, and you can run it for free right in your browser.
What Dall-E 2 does is use artificial intelligence to create the images. Basically, it’s a research project by Openai, and behind the project is tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, among others.
But the interest was also great from the public. Initially, an invitation was required to use the service, but recently it has been opened up to everyone. And as you’ll see below, there are more services out there that do the same thing.
Upload photos
Dall-E 2 can be used in different ways. The basic text-to-image functionality can be complemented by choosing where you specify, for example, whether the image should be a painting or a pencil drawing. You can also upload and change your own photos. Openai has even tried using famous artwork and letting Dall-E 2 guess what “should” be out of frame.
For some time now, it has also been possible to edit real faces in Dall-E, something that surgeons and directors have requested, among other things.
So far, ai images hardly offer any great image quality, but in the long run it could completely change your photography. The Getty Images digital photo agency For example, it chose to stop AI-generated images altogether because it remains unclear who has the copyright to them.
