Powerpoint from Microsoft Office is the most widely used tool in the world for creating presentations of all kinds. But Office does cost money, although there are of course free alternatives, on the web or for the phone.

Another option for creating or editing presentations is Google Slides, a free tool included with Google Drive. However, it does not use exactly the same format as Microsoft Office. Powerpoint saves its files in pptx format. , which presentations can handle as well, but can also save to other formats.

You can upload a PowerPoint presentation to Google, but it will differ slightly from the original presentation. For example, unsupported fonts, animations, smart graphs, and more will be converted to the Google equivalent, or in some cases won’t work at all. If the presentation is reopened in PowerPoint afterwards, it may differ slightly from the original presentation.
