Now check the electricity rates before turning on the computer almost finished. At the major electronics show CES in Las Vegas, Acer has unveiled a solution that combines cutting-edge technology with the most analog source of power: leg muscles.
Yes, if Acer decides, you should be able to make your own power to power up and charge your computer by hitting the pedals.
To that end, the company unveiled the Acer eKinekt BD 3 Bike Desk, which is literally a computer desk combined with a stationary bike.
With the eKinekt BD 3, you can exercise while you work, while the kinetic energy from your pedals is used to power your computer and other connected devices. The included LCD display and associated app provide you with information about your training and how much energy you are generating.
You can adjust the resistance in the pedals as with a regular exercise bike in a gym. And of course the desk is ergonomic, so the seat and table height can be adjusted.
The Acer eKinekt BD 3 Bike Desk is equipped with three built-in USB ports, a bag hook, and a drink holder.
This is how kinetic energy is converted into electricity
When you hit the pedals, the eKinekt converts kinetic energy into an electrical charge, Acer explains in a press release.
One hour of continuous spinning at 60 RPM means the cycle table generates 75 watts of power. An LED charge indicator on the back of the bike lights up when you depress the pedals, indicating that kinetic energy is being converted.
Pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
