Caroline Diving – Killed by a shark in front of the family

American Caroline de Placido, 58, was a passenger on a cruise ship in the Caribbean.

When the ship docked in Nassau on Tuesday, Caroline’s family booked a boat trip to Green Cay, a popular diving spot.

There, terrified family members saw a bull shark attack Caroline.

She was bitten multiple times in the upper body, according to Krislin Skippings of the Bahamas Police.

Others at the party manage to drag Caroline onto the boat and bring her to shore, but her life cannot be saved.

They grow to gigantic sizes and eat large game.

Caroline de Placido worked at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Caroline was a strong character full of kindness and friendship. This is horrific news and we will miss it, says Michael Kezeki of the university New York Post.

The only species of sharks around the Bahamas that can attack humans are bull sharks and tiger sharks, says Michael Haithos, a marine biologist at Florida International University in Miami.

They grow to gigantic sizes and eat large game, says Michael Heithaus CBS News.

Last year, there were 137 shark attacks around the world according to the International Shark Attack File.
