The CEO at podcasting business Audioboom Group plc, which is backed by property mogul Nick Candy, has stepped down with immediate effect.
Rob Proctor has left the
position and been replaced by current COO Stuart Last on an interim basis until
a permanent replacement can be found.
Michael Tobin, Chairman of
Audioboom, commented: “Rob has taken Audioboom from a pre-revenue start-up to
one of the world’s top audio platforms. I wholeheartedly wish him the best for
the future. He leaves behind a company in the best shape it has ever been and
at the forefront of the burgeoning podcast industry. I look forward to
announcing a new CEO in due course who will continue to drive Audioboom’s
strong growth and performance.”
Audioboom is a platform for hosting, distributing and monetising podcast content. Nick Candy’s Candy Ventures owns around a quarter of the company.
Podcasting is in some ways a curious segment of the digital world. It has been around at least 20 years, but in that time it is fair to say it has never really achieved mass market popularity. Nick Candy seems to believe it holds unexploited potential however.
