Far from the glitz and glamour of Buckingham Palace, in the south London borough of Lambeth sits ‘Highland Tower’ – an inconspicuous church conversion said to be once owned by the Her Royal Highness the Queen. Listed for sale at £1.8 million, the unique Grade II-listed property was renovated by its current owner in 2002.
Rather than going for the typical chic warehouse-style loft apartment conversion, developer John Rubinow opted for a modest interior, extending the original plot by adding two smaller towers that bring the total area to an impressive 3,300 sqr ft.
The home boasts a number of original features, including 3 foot thick walls, working original church clock and extraordinary views of London from the second floor roof terrace.
Mr. Rubinow is keen to emphasise the properties royal pedigree, asserting “it was owned by the Queen – and I have the paper work to prove it”.

Prince Charles can also turn his hand to property, last week he revealed he was selling eight new build luxury flats in the quiet village of Poundbury, ranging from £550,000 to £750,000.
DMZ noticed that Highland Tower was listed in 2013 for £1.5 million and didn’t sell, it’s been on the market for 16 months at the current price and still isn’t selling. Prince Charles success with Poundbury suggests the Royals have as much pulling power as ever, so maybe it’s time for the owners of Highland Tower to listen to the market…
