Super rich American investor Warren Buffett is keen to invest in the UK, it is reported.
The Financial Times reports that Buffett is undeterred by impending Brexit and is keen to invest in what is termed a ‘trusted system’ – by which he appears to mean a country whose culture and laws are as similar as possible to his native US.
Buffett told the newspaper: “We welcome the chance to put money any place where we think we understand and sort of trust the system.”
Buffett is said to be the third richest person in the world and is infamous for his ‘value investing’ approach. Through his company, Berkshire Hathaway, Buffett has or has held a number of UK investments, with various degrees of success. Interestingly, the newspaper does not elaborate on whether Buffett believes the UK will be a good investment after Brexit because the economy will prosper – or whether he believes there will be some good value distressed bargains on offer.
