Britain’s top travel destination – Restrictions have been lifted

According to a new report, Britain is the hottest travel destination. Bookings have increased since the country lifted its coronavirus restrictions.

Forget Spain, now the UK is up to the task. At least if a new report from the MasterCard Institute for Economics outlining travel trends this year is to be believed.

The most important destination in Britain

Since March, the UK has leapfrogged Spain as the hottest destination for European travellers, writes bloomberg.

This comes in part as a result of the lifting of travel restrictions in the country after two years that included expensive coronavirus tests and quarantine rules. Evidence that people simply want to be able to travel freely.

The report shows that once the regulations were gone, air travel to the UK increased – from 59 per cent below 2019 levels – to 40 per cent above before coronavirus began, in about six weeks. In addition to Europe, travelers from the Middle East and Africa also flock to the UK more than any other country.

There is no doubt that 2022 will be the year we travel again.

“If flight bookings continue at their current pace, an estimated 1.5 billion passengers globally will travel in 2022 compared to last year,” the report states.

Europe is experiencing the largest booking

Europe will see the largest increase, with an additional 550 million flights expected to be booked this year compared to last year.

At the same time, we can count on more affordable flights within Europe this summer. It is the high demand for holiday travel that drives up tour prices.

Inflation and the fact that many people are having less and less money in their wallets makes it uncertain how much they will spend on things like travel.
