Housing company Botkyrkabyggen has been chasing energy thieves for 15 years. The hunt was successful. In 2022, total energy use will be 25.3 percent lower than in 2007, when the giant investment began.
The Allmännyttan climate initiative began 15 years ago, and the shared goal of hundreds of public housing companies, is to reduce energy use by 30 percent in the property portfolio by 2030. Botkyrkabyggen is an active member of the initiative, thus chasing kilowatt-hours.
– The hunt is underway in sub-centers and basements. It’s about finding the last old-fashioned fluorescent lamps and lamps, which have not yet been replaced by LEDs. We insulate the ventilation ducts and adjust the fans,” says Patrick Lindqvist, operations manager at Botkyrkabyggen.
Botkyrka’s construction aligns well with the goals of the Climate Initiative. In 2022, total energy use decreased to 121.7 kWh / m2. Thus, the company is currently offering one year in energy savings, if you believe that the reduction should occur at the same rate every year until 2030, when the goal is to reduce to 114 kWh / square meter.
Work gets more difficult every year. After all, we’ve already made all the big energy-saving investments, and picked the low-hanging fruit. It’s now important to find other kinds of solutions going forward, says Patrick Lindqvist.
During 2022, Botkyrkabyggen has, among other things, modernized twelve sub-centers, so that heat does not escape unnecessarily, and in nine buildings, has installed FTX ventilation systems, which recover heat rather than send hot air outside. of buildings. The company also engages renters with simple energy saving tips.
