The game has now broken the record for the longest development time ever.
To say that “Beyond Good & Evil 2” went through a difficult and lengthy development period is a real understatement. The game is a 3D platform game developed by the classic game company Ubisoft. The crux of the matter is that it has been in development for over 15 years now.
2008 was the first time the game was announced, and it had already been in development for a year. Then, “Beyond Good & Evil 2” took a short sabbatical from the spotlight, lasting eight years and finally showing up at E3 2016 with an impressive trailer.
Since then, there have been bits and pieces of new information about the game, but nothing spectacular. Recently, development seemed to have come to a complete halt.
In 2020, Michel Ansel, who was the mastermind of the original game, left Ubisoft and since then it has been quiet. It is believed that the game has been postponed and forgotten and will never see the light of day again.
However, Ubisoft contradicts these speculations and comments that development around the game is still active.
Ubisoft recently canceled three unannounced games to save money, and four more last summer.
Behind “Beyond Good & Evil 2” is now 15 years behind, surpassing the famous “Duke Nukem Forever” development time of 14 years. It is said that “Beyond Good & Evil 2” is now the game with the longest development ever.
Congratulations on the new Ubisoft record!
