AT and ST Supervisor of the Year in Northwest Götaland

This year's AT teacher and winner of the “Fläkeln” walking award is Ravi Kiryu, ST, Psychiatry Clinic, NU Healthcare. He won the following nomination:

“With great initiative and commitment, he takes on the AT training. He makes sure that you develop your knowledge and skills and grow in your role as a physician with very good support. He places a lot of emphasis on feeling safe in the clinic no matter where you are in the different clinic locations, he is always available and helpful. This makes one feel very safe, which in turn leads to a better working environment and safer treatment for patients. As many know, you can end up in certain situations where you are alone and anxious as a physician/physician assistant, especially in a field that you do not feel confident in and do not have a lot of experience in, so it is important to have a supervisor who can provide you with the support you need in all different situations, which Ravi did in the beginning of his medical career. I was able to call him and discuss different cases even though he is not in the same department. He has been nothing but kind to me. Early in his medical career, although he faced challenges at the beginning of his medical career, he is enthusiastic and takes the initiative to make a real difference to his younger colleagues, so this award is a natural fit for him.”

This year's ST supervisor and winner of the “Golden Wings” hiking award is Tomer Kestenberg, Chief Physician, Surgery Clinic, NU-sjukvården. He won the following nomination:

“Tom is a committed supervisor with a strong interest in the development of ST doctors both individually and as a group. He is very keen to see us grow in our role. Very educational in nature. There is no doubt that this is very small, and the bar is always high. He gives us our own responsibility, and thus makes us grow, but you never feel alone. He always has time for questions and you feel his presence in a safe way. A very competent colleague and always opens his door when you need support. In addition, it is important to stress how much he is appreciated in our clinic and in other clinics as well. A real rock. Very helpful and supportive to all staff, regardless of their professional category or workload. There is no one in NU healthcare who does not know who Tom is and who does not like him. He is always in a good mood no matter how much work there is to do and has a great sense of humour. He takes responsibility and spreads his joy and energy wherever he goes, which is why we see him as a role model and someone to emulate.”
