Details about a future Macbook with a foldable display are very fragmentary at the moment. However, Kuo says the device will have a 20.3-inch screen, according to 9to5Mac. According to Kuo, this Macbook is Apple's only foldable device “with a clear development schedule,” indicating that their plans to launch a foldable iPhone or iPad are still far in the future.
“I've recently received several inquiries about whether Apple plans to mass produce a foldable iPhone or iPad in 2025 or 2026. My recent research shows that the only current foldable Apple product with a clear development schedule is the 20.3-inch Macbook, It is expected “to enter mass production in 2027,” Kuo writes in one Posts on X.
This isn't the first time Apple has been rumored to be working on a foldable Macbook. In 2022, Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) revealed that Apple was considering the idea of laptops with foldable screens.
The veracity of this rumor is debatable. Apple has just entered a new and relatively risky product category with the Vision Pro. A segment of products, although several years on the back of the neck, has not reached the broad masses. Launching a MacBook with a foldable display seems very risky, when it would cannibalize sales of their external displays.
However, computer manufacturer Asus already has a laptop today, Asus ZenBook DuoWith foldable screen. But Apple is unlikely to give its entry into a segment that isn't often in demand.
