It’s only been a few months since AMD last expanded its Ryzen 7000 series, which includes the Zen 4 architecture. Now there are early signs that the Ryzen 8000 and Zen 5 are in the works, per a Twitter profile. Bench leaks Results of detection of the two databases Einstein @ home and LHC @ home. Both of them recorded the so-called engineering sample (ES), with a previously unknown identifier.
Some performance numbers are missing, but several interesting details can be gleaned from the specs. It seems to consist of 8 cores and 16 threads, which are combined in one case with a branded graphics card Radeon RX 7900.
Perhaps most interestingly, they both bear the name “Family 26,” which has yet to be used for any of the existing products. The latest generations with Zen 3 and Zen 4 fall under “Family 25”, while older products with Zen 2, Zen + and Zen architectures fall under “Family 24”. It points out that it’s already an entirely new processor family and architecture, with Ryzen 8000 and Zen 5 being closest to hand.
It is also compatible with the latest AMD releases road mapWell, the red team confirmed that the next generation will be called the Ryzen 8000, plus the recently introduced AM5 platform will last until at least 2026.
