Favoritism has never been this great, and Lorraine deservedly won Melodifestivalen, writes SvD’s Ellinor Skagegård. The columnist thinks Lauren could take home the entire Eurovision Song Contest for a second time, even if it’s a bigger challenge than competing on home soil.
Lorraine has nerves of steel, which she showed during an “unwelcome theatrical visit” from a climate activist at the pageant, Skagegård writes.
“We may still have to dare believe 7th win and joint 1st place with Ireland for most wins in the competition’s 67-year history!”
GP’s Johan Lindqvist describes the victory as “indisputable, superior, intuitive”.
He wrote: “One of Melodifestivalen’s most convincing transgressions ever”.
He predicts that Lauren will be the favorite ahead of the competition in Great Britain, but also states that it will be more difficult then. Lindqvist doesn’t think Lauren can take advantage of the fact that she won “Euphoria”, because it was eleven years ago.
“In pop music, it’s a kind of timelessness.”
