AMD Ryzen 7000X3D may be revealed with 3D V-Cache at CES 2023

AMD Ryzen 7000X3D may be revealed with 3D V-Cache at CES 2023

Before AMD launched the Ryzen 7000 series with Zen 4 architecture earlier this fall, the previous generation had to finish off nicely. After a long wait, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D was launched in the spring, with “3D” indicating that it was equipped with AMD’s then-new 3D V-Cache technology, which tripled the L3 cache from 32 to 96MB.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D delivered no-nonsense performance boost to a fundamental level. Not least in gaming where, despite its modest clock frequencies, it outperformed even the then-flagship Core i9-12900K from Intel. It also became clear that he was a tough fighter upon the launch of the Ryzen 7000 series, against which the processor held up relatively well.

Against this backdrop, many enthusiasts are waiting to empty their wallets until new 3D V-Cache models enter the scene. Coinciding with the launch, AMD has indicated it will come “in a few months,” and here SweClockers speculated that the venue for the announcement will be at CES 2023 in early January. Report now Wccftechwho claims to have been involved in AMD’s product plans, that would be the case.

Aside from AMD confirming that the Ryzen 7000 with 3D V-Cache is turned on, a few details are available. With the latest generation, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the only model with the technology and has 8 cores, but this time there may be more processors with the addition of 3D on the table. What is known is that this technology also offers three times as much L3 cache, which means 96 MB for models with 6 or 8 cores and 192 MB with 12 or 16 cores.

Another question mark is how that will be with overclocking support. With the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, AMD chose to limit the possibilities, resulting in an additional cache that only supports a voltage of 1.35V over time. If AMD deals with this, it is not reasonable to perform the same block again.
