AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX can have 24GB of graphics memory

Another really big item on the tech fall 2022 agenda is AMD’s new Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards, which take Nvidia’s new Geforce RTX 4000 family. At the time of writing, few details are known about the RX 7000 architecture and RDNA 3 architecture, but the company has at least confirmed high power efficiency, and that the 12VHPWR connector is not in use, so chipdesign is used.

The latter means that graphics cards, just like Ryzen processors, consist of several circuits. The arrangement means, among other things, that different manufacturing techniques of different power can be combined, but also that it becomes easier to manufacture and combine individual circuits for different products – if the communication interface between them is perfect. In an unofficial way, another detail is now emerging, namely that 20 and 24 GB of graphics memory, respectively, occur in the top models.

Twitter user “chi11eddog” You have According to Wccftech Notoriety when it comes to leaks, and with launches just days away, the information is likely already true. The Twitter post shows some letters and black boxes obscuring most of the images, which show the models’ full names and information that might reveal the source. The letters “XT” are accompanied by “20” and “XTX” with “24”, indicating the Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX cards, respectively.

Both models have predecessors in the Radeon RX 6000 series, but there are only clock frequencies and memory frequencies that differentiate the graphics cards. The amount of memory of 16 GB applies regardless of the suffix, but with the RX 7000 graphics card, additional memory is provided for the top-chip Navi 31 – at best on the same level as Nvidia’s sharper consumer products. It remains to be seen if the performance level is in the same range as well.

A verdict on the specifications for the new Radeon generation will be made on Thursday at 21:00 Swedish time.
