Amazon Launches TurnKey Homebuying Programme

Amazon have launched a new service which allows homebuyers to not only find and buy a home but move into it in one seamless package.

Buyers only have to provide four pieces of information to start the TurnKey process. The programme initially partners customers with a real estate agent, with names such as Coldwell Banker and Century 21 participating in the service. Once the purchasing deal has closed Amazon provides home services including furnishings and smart home products and installation amongst others.

The services offered are worth between £1,000 and $5,000 and are provided in return for partnering with Amazon’s chosen real estate agent.

TurnKey is currently only available in selected US locations but Amazon says it intends to add more.

TurnKey is another bold new service from the digital giant. Yet, far from being the consumer convenience Amazon is marketing it as, is most likely a move to capture a bigger share of the home products and services market by capturing leads earlier on in the home buying process.

There’s no suggestion TurnKey will be offered in the UK as yet. However, online and offline agents in the UK will no doubt be watching with interest.
