Notoriously private popstar Adele has purchased a £4million mansion in a surprising location.
The mega star has chosen East Grinstead in the Sussex countryside to settle down with her husband Simon Konecki and their son Angelo.
The lavish 8 bedroom mansion was built in the 18th century and is surrounded by 45 acres of land, allowing the popstar plenty of space and privacy.
The property is full of character, with exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces. It also comes with the added bonus of 3 guest cottages.
The unassuming location is a major change from Adele’s current real estate portfolio.
Since the global success of her first album the singer has spent a cool £16million on property, including a mews house in Kensington for £5.65 million in 2012. She went on to purchase the house next door for £5.38 million with plans to knock the two through in order to give her extra space.
Her property empire also includes a seaside house in Hove. Bought in 2012, within one year of owning the property she allegedly replicated her investment strategy and bought the neighbouring house, allegedly costing more than £5 million in total.
The hitmaker is now allegedly worth in the region of £85 million due to the astronomical success of her 3 hit albums.
The multi-award winning singer is known for her rejection of a public, showbiz lifestyle. According to a source close to the star, Adele has deliberately chosen the relatively modest area of East Grinstead to raise her son away from glossier and busier postcodes of North London or the Notting Hill set. But last year the singer made yet another property play and splashed $9.5 million for a mansion in LA.
Her LA property spans 6,600 sq. ft within an exclusive gate community, counting A-list Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lawrence as neighbours. Not exactly a covert location.
The singer is obviously used to investing her millions in property across the world; at £4 million she may think of her new 8 bedroom mansion as something of a bargain compared to house prices in Los Angeles.
Sources say Adele is enjoying life after her hectic tour; she is apparently not fond of performing and may never tour again due to stage fright. DMZ thinks this is a great move for the singer, joining celebrity neighbours Dame Judi Dench, Jonathan Ross and Benedict Cumberbatch who also own mansions in East Grinstead.
