After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the British government decided to impose sanctions on the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, who is believed to have ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and who was subsequently isolated from the big English club Chelsea. Abramovich owned the club for several years, but in the future the club will have a new owner.
Now the US Wall Street Journal reports that Abramovich experienced symptoms of suspected poisoning after a meeting in Kyiv earlier in March. It is said that Abramovich was present at the peace talks, and according to the information, the Ukrainian peace negotiators also experienced similar symptoms after the meeting.
Symptoms are said to be red eyes, persistent and painful tearing, as well as scaly skin on the face and hands. On the other hand, it is said that there is no danger to Abramovich’s life or the lives of others, as their condition is said to have improved recently.
According to the American newspaper, the Russians are accused of being suspected of poisoning, as they were said to have wanted to sabotage the talks.
Later on Monday, US news agency Reuters reported Intelligence indicates that the symptoms of Abramovich and the Ukrainian peace negotiators were not caused by the poisoning, but by other factors in the environment.
