An apple iPhone 13 Pro The iPhone 13 Pro Max will likely have 120 Hz LTPO OLED displays when the phones are released later this year, and now a new report has suggested that similar technology could be used on cheaper models released in 2022.
Report from the Korean publication Electricity He says that LG Display is preparing to make panels that Apple will use in its 2022 mobile phones that we currently expect to be called the iPhone 14. This indicates that Apple will be ready to include this technology on a larger number of mobile phones beyond the Pro and Pro Max models.
Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini 2021, but none of these phones will have 120Hz LTPO panels. Instead, there are rumors that the company will stick with 60Hz OLED screens, as in iPhone 12.
If this report is correct, it’s a lot of evidence that the iPhone 14 – or whatever Apple now chooses to name its 2022 models – will be Apple’s first series of mobile phones with all models featuring 120Hz panels.
LG Display is currently talking to a manufacturer called Avaco, which makes the hardware necessary to be able to supply LTPO panels. There are rumors that Samsung makes the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max screens, but it is not believed that it has the ability to offer them for all models in the series.
A 120 Hz screen means that the image on the screen is refreshed 120 times per second, giving a smoother picture than a 60 Hz screen. Many Android phones use a similar refresh rate, and we expect it to be one of Apple’s major upgrades to the iPhone 13.
This new report does not guarantee that Apple will include the technology in its entire series by 2022, but it does strongly suggest that this is the company’s intention.
Apple may change plans at a later time, or you may not be able to find enough components to make the feature possible. We can’t know for sure until the iPhone 14 is introduced, but that’s, like I said, a clear sign that it’s going to happen.
