Vilundabadet Leaks – Swimming pool closed for 2 weeks

A leak was discovered from the family swimming pool in Villonbadet.

– Water leaking from under the sink. Therefore, we need to drain the pool and close the family pool in order to investigate and fix the leak, says Recreation and Sports Director Joanna Dermer.

In order not to affect fall holiday activities, it was decided to close on November 11 only. Other swimming pools, in addition to gyms and group training, are open as usual.

Can you fix a leak in two weeks?

– That's the plan, but depending on what you find and what needs to be done, it could take longer, says Joanna Dermer.

It was advised not to close the swimming pool during the Christmas holidays.

– If we find something bigger, we will wait with it and prepare temporarily for this long period.

Niklas Mixter, plant manager at Medley Vilundabadet, says it is necessary to close the bathroom for repairs.

– A renovation must be carried out in order for the bathroom to be sustainable in the long term.

Vilundabadet staff conduct checks twice a day to ensure it is safe for visitors.

– We go down to the four basins and conduct tests. We particularly look at the tiles, the bottom and the handles, but also that everything else is complete. We've had issues with tile release in the past.

Although Vilundabadet was built as recently as 2009, it had aged prematurely and become worn out.

Politicians are now considering whether the facility should be renovated – or whether an entirely new bathing and swimming facility should be built.

– We are now restoring and repairing to the best of our ability. “When the decision comes, we will take a bigger step,” says Johanna Dermer.
