Natalie Portman in her first TV series: “Playground”

30 years ago, Natalie Portman made her breakthrough in “Léon,” and has since achieved star status — but until now she hadn't made it into television.

In an interview with The Guardian, she spoke about the upcoming mini-series “Lady in the Lake,” which will premiere on Apple TV+ on July 19.

The seven-part series is based on Laura Lippman's novel of the same name. Portman plays a Baltimore housewife who leaves her husband to pursue a career as an investigative journalist after two high-profile murders.

She explained that she has not played in a TV series yet with the fact that she has not found the right project.

– It seemed natural because it was a character I really wanted to explore in this way, it's like a playground when you have seven hours.
