Social media
Are you an Instagram user, young and social media addict? Calm down – The app now reminds you to sleep if you don't go to bed on time.
Kamera & Bild have previously written extensively about social media-related mental illnesses, including cyberbullying, constant demands for comments and tracking down followers and like counts. Meanwhile, Meta, which owns Instagram and Facebook, has been criticized for not doing enough.
Now, on the other hand, Meta announces that it has addressed the problem of young people neglecting sleep in favor of social media: a new function will show those who use Instagram a message every ten minutes in the evening stating that it is time to put it down. Put down the phone and go to bed
Meta writes in a press release that “Sleep is important, especially for teens, so we're launching new nightly alerts that appear when teens spend more than 10 minutes on Instagram in places like Reels or DMs late at night. They remind teens that it's late and encourage them to close the app.”
If you are not shocked, you can take the opportunity to visit Kamera & Bild in Instagram, Threads, Twitter or Facebook -But there's a risk that reading can be too much fun, so make sure you don't stay up too late!
